"In Algeria seventy percent of the population are young people. Our women's committee has now become the backbone of our union and we have the support from our male colleagues. Last year we managed to get an equality paragraph into the unions' constitution which says that if the President is a man, the General Secretary should be a woman – or the opposite. We try to promote womens' rights all over our country, in the Arabic world and in the rest of the world."
